We try to alternate our shopping and chillax days even though our chillax isnt really chillax due to the crazy amount of walking we do daily haha! We decided to give E-Dae (Ewha Women Uni) a visit since it's highly recommended for its cheap shopping. There we go on our usual journey on the Korail! The Anam station is about 5min walk from our hostel so it's really convenient.
Look at the crazy map of the different lines on the train. It's insane!! I think you probably need to bring a pair of binoculars if you want to read the map, wonder if anyone really squints to read it. If you're looking to travel in Korea, download the app 'Jihachul'! It helps to plan your route once you plant your origin and destination of the station on the map! :D It's a life saver! Since there are so many lines, it's really a hassle to transfer every now and then despite the convenience and the signages are pretty poor imo so we always end up going to the wrong direction of the tracks HAHA
The trains looks pretty standard but I prefer SMRT anytime, no more complaining about jams and crowded trains. Even though the trains aren't as crowded most of the time (not sure about peak hours), but the trains arent as nice...? Eating is also allowed and I've seen dogs walking in subway stations so I believ it's pet friendly too? Well that's something I really love about that!
We arrived at Edae and headed to find some food for lunch! Stumbled a random shop that sells stew at pretty affordable price! We started to pool our money for food 10000won a day hahaha and it's surprising enough to feed us so far!
We were all given aprons haha and it's really important as I realised afterward that the soup really splurts everywhere hahahaha.
Here's our seafood stew served! 16000won for 3 person serving, shared by the 4 of us!
After filling our tummies, its shopping time! There're alot of cosmetics stores here but other than that, shopping is pretty mediocre since we were really expecting alot. Probably due to the rainy weather, there wasn't much to shop so we're really disappointed. I managed to get a NB *lookalike* ahems here, super bright colours that I fell for but I had cognitive dissonance immediately haha. Managed to bargain to 25,000won which is about $31, pretty expensive but probably the best I can find!
Since we're here, we should give the pretty ehwa campus a visit! The campus is super gorgeous with greenery and vintage looking buildings that look so Europish!
It's so good that they've a church right at the campus?!
Ddeokbokki that's cooked really well and yet still chewy! Korean food really isn't that spicy and in fact really acceptable, not too sweet too since I dislike sweet savoury food but I'm super happy with my meals here so far even though we just randomly walk into any matjib (food house) we see!
We did more shopping and seeing at Hongdae where atmosphere was really good. The place was packed with hipsters yet not too crowded. The items here are all really fashionable! Hongdae is now listed as our favourite shopping place so far. There are so many things to explore/cafes/food/shopping it's really perfect! We headed to stylenanda too and took some free instant photobooth pictures and it's already night time! So happening with bustling streets, love it!
After window shopping which we didn't really buy cos the prices are more expensive (~S$20), we finally headed for a late dinner which we were left with 7000won meal budget. Ended up at this little dessert store called DALSUDA since it has Sherri's surname, Suda in it hahahaa
With our 7000won budget, we got an Injeomi toast and some chamssalddeok (rice balls)! The toast was really good with mochi layered in between ahhhh #shiokseumnida!
With that, we ended our long long day, probably the latest we've ever stayed out, which isn't thattttt late. The train ride back was an interesting one. There was a drunk ahjussi sitting beside me and another Korean guy and he was sleeping and bumping his heads on our shoulders. Then he decided he should just sleep on someone's shoulder and landed on the guy's. We both just laughed at each other when the ahjussi continued to snuggle beside him HAHAHA. We finally reached hostel 11pm all tireddddd.
If you realised, I've also started taking vlogs when I can! I'm uploading them all on http://youtube.com/sheronoona which I dedicate this channel for my travelogues! Let me know how you might want me to make this better :D
