Bangkok 2012 - Day 2

Rise and shine to a brand new day in BKK! :D Some camwhoring shots to start the day teehee. My room looks orangy due to the yellow lights but it's in a lovely shade of pink!

Another best thing of the accommodation, breakfast provided every morning. How awesome! Despite limited variety, it's still really worth it considering the price we had to pay. One night is only $50+ per room (not per pax!)! How I wish Hong Kong has such hotels too ):

Food varies slightly daily. The chicken sausages super naiseeeeeeeeeeee.

After breakfast, we wanted to head out to shop the morning markets. Turned out the morning market closes at 9 and we were out, it's already 8+ and the vendors were packing out since it was drizzling ): No shopping done so we head back to our rooms and chill before we head out to Platinum!

I was too bored to do nothing/watch thai tv which I understand nothing so I camwhored with the 5连拍 that my cg loves to do teeheeeee.

Finally, there we go to... Platinum Fashion Mall! It's about a 10min walk from our hotel but it's raining so it was bad walking on the bumpy roads of Thailand. One thing which I failed to appreciate in Singapore, our nicely paved roads!

Here's the highly raved shopping mall whereby people love it super much and spend 2-3 days to finish shopping the entire mall. That's also why I planned a 2-days itinerary to finish shopping here. I regretted, you'll see why.

Sure enough, the shopping mall is huge. Prices not really cheap, about Bugis Street range. What I don't really like is the variety, the fashion! It's of the same pace to Singapore's fashion, if not slower. I expected fashion here to be slightly better considering clothes selling in Singapore origin from BKK. And definitely expected prices to be cheaper ): I feel obliged to buy the similar things in Singapore instead and contribute to our economy since the prices are about the same. Furthermore, you're expected to buy wholesale (2pc or more, can mixnmatch) to get that price.

In short, I didn't exactly enjoy my shopping there. Was quite disappointed since I held relatively high expectations upon hearing how people love BKK shopping so terribly much. Perhaps the current fashion season don't suit me? Too much of chiffon/lace/floral can be overboard sometimes.

Met at Level 6 for lunch! It works like our Kopitiam here where you have to top up an amount in a card and use it to buy food.

Omm noms! Luckily I kinda like the food in Thailand, despite some things that are way too sweet for my liking. Mango sticky rice woooohoooooo!

Crepe! This is so good that I've this for 3 consecutive days! FAT FAT >.< Best thing, how do you find a crepe for $1.60 in Singapore?

I'm quite a fast shopper so instead of spending 2 expected days at Platinum, I underestimated my mum's and my shopping abilities. We combed the mall in like 3-4 hours? Got most of the things that we wanted and was quite sian already. The things at Platinum wasn't really what I wanted and most of the shops sell repeated clothes too.

Walked back to our hotel slowly lugging our buys and also shopped along our way. Managed to buy some super cheap denim shorts at S$4 each at Pratunam and I super love them!

Here am I with my buys for the 1st day! Lots of shorts, like 7 pairs, gave 1 to Jocelyn cos I bought the wrong size haha. 3 dresses, 3 tops, 1 pair of sandals and some accessories. Considering I finished Platinum and only got these, it's really not a lot >.< I wanted to stock up my wardrobe for a brand new acad year ahead! ):

Chilled abit, went to Pratunam to walk one round. Got back to hotel with too much time to spare ._. Viber call with Justin, my life savior! See, according to my itinerary, I was supposed to go Platinum again tomorrow to continue my shopping! Who knew I managed to finish the mall within such a short time. And I did manage to shop most of the shops and even repeated some just to burn time. So I don't think I wanna go back there the next day, results in a unplanned day in BKK with nothing to do?

Justin is like super familar with the streets of BKK, like a local totally. He intro-ed me some places to go and gave my directions verbally so I could figure the way myself. Awesome bff! He saved my life in BKK. Lol that's a tad too exaggerating. Not sure if wifi reception wasn't strong, we dropped like 20 over calls to finally finish our convo lol.

Anyway, it's finally evening and I met with Joce again (we separated ways to shop). Walked to Siam Paragon all the way from hotel (20min or so! >.<) since cab like waste time due to heavy traffic. I figured the way there with the directions that Justin told me earlier :D

Gotta say I really love the basement of Siam Paragon! Siam Paragon, is like such an ATAS shopping mall, like Ion? Doesn't feels like I'm in BKK!

Dinner! Basil chicken wasnt fantastic! I actually prefer the thai hawker at Tanjong Pagar hawker haha!

Supermarket shopping at Gourmet Market! Super ATAS one and it's great to burn time! Bought 2 flavours of Lays which SG doesn't have. Hot Lobster Plate and Chilli Crab? No much taste one hahaha. Chewing gum too!

Some random food Joce bought to share ^^ The taro and vanilla toast is mad awesome, only S$1 each!

After dinner, we headed opposite to shop at the night flea of Siam which sells nice clothes but quite expensive. ): Then we slowly walked back to our hotel again which sums up Day 2!
