Today's itinerary is a chillax one to the south of Jeju - Seogwipo-si; Teddy Bear Musuem > Ripley's Museum > Cheonjeyeon Falls all side by side before we added a last minute schedule to Hamdeok Beach at Jeju city since we've extra time.
We went to Jeju intercity terminal to take bus #780 and in an hour or so, we arrived at Jungmun Resort where the first 3 destinations are!
First up, Teddy Bearrrrrrs!
Adult tickets at 8000KRW each but honestly speaking, it was quite boring for us. It's simply displays of teddy bears wearing different outfits, nothing interactive or so. The best we could make out of the ticket we paid for was to take more pictures with the life sized teddy bears HAHAHA
One of the main feature of the museum, Goong bears! I really enjoyed the drama when I was in Sec 2 and went crazy over the male lead hahahaha #darkpast
We had lunch at Lotteria (Korea fast food chain) which was pretty mediocre and didn't satisfy my chicken cravings well hahaha then to Ripley's museum which was quite good at 9000KRW! Afterwards off we go to Cheonjeyeon Falls! Ticket entrance to the park for 2500KRW each :)
On the way to the first waterfall, check out the rainbow formed on the water! There're 3 parts of the waterfall that we could trek so more stairsss ahahah my thighs definitely have sufficient workout in Korea
The main initial part of the waterfall, and the water is so so clearrrr
2nd part which is also my favourite part of the waterfall! :D
The 3rd part which required more trekking hahah shag
We were so tired when we're done cos it's so sunny today (if only it was like that yesterday) and we headed to Twosome Place cafe nearby for patbingsuuuuu~
Royal milk tea patbingsu for 9800KRW, mediocre only :b
Surprisingly, we finished our planned itinerary by early afternoon, mainly cos the museums aren't really interesting or it just didn't take that much time so we decided to take a bus back to Jeju city and travel to a nearby beach just 30min away on bus #701 (I think ahahaha the bus numbers too similar alr). We were worried that it'll turn dark by the time we reach since sun is starting to set earlier these days as it nears winter. Thank God that we managed to chase the sun woohoo! The beach isn't wide but quite pretty and chill, once again really loving the peaceful vibe in Jeju anywhere everywhere~
I looked photoshopped into the picture HAHAHA
Dinner was at a random seafood restaurant along the beach and we finally get to try some abalone porridge (15000KRW, ~S$18)! Today is seafood overload hehehe ordered raw fish bibimbap (10000KRW, ~S$12.50) and it was really good too!
We caught a bus back to Jeju city to our hostel afterwards to collect our bags as we've already checked out earlier this morning. We've our return flight scheduled at 0755 the next morning so it doesn't make much sense to spend another night of accommodation. Okay maybe it does but we wanna #yolo and #hobo and save money after the luxury life we've been living (mainly on glorious food HAHAHA).
AND THIS IS WHERE THE REAL ADVENTURES BEGIN. Note: we've had a really smooth trip throughout and were so proud of ourselves for navigating well since we didn't plan much beforehand. Furthermore, Liz and I didnt know each other well before the trip so we were reallyyyyy glad to click and travel so well together maybe cos both of us very suibian and nua hehehe. But little did we expect that our luck was going to run out... but not really. Read my long grandma story below :b
So, we left our hostel at 10pm and took bus #100 from the opposite direction back to the airport. Common sense, if we came on the same bus from one direction, we should be able to get back to the same place from the opp direction right? Well, we were proved wrong. The bus journey seemed longer than before so I was getting a little skeptical. My instincts were right cos after some time, everyone alighted at an unknown stop and the driver told us it was the last stop and asked us where we were heading. He was pretty surprised to know we're going to the airport at this hour and when I explained to him that we were going to wait for our flight the next day, he was kind enough to say he'll drop us somewhere near the airport to cab there. #jejupeopledamnniceX1 We were really thankful and it turned out he actually drove us all the way to the airport on a freaking public bus? How honoured omg what did we do to deserve this :') GOD BLESS YOU DEAR AHJUSSI!
Still overwhelmed by Jeju kindness, we happily lugged our bags to the airport which was abnormally quiet. Like there weren't much cars on the street and it's not that strange considering Jeju is really quiet at night, but the airport? Hmm... As we near the airport, we realised all the lights were off and there wasn't people in the airport? All we saw were some security guards so things just seem damn off already. We went into the airport and the guards asked why we were there, I explained that we were gonna wait to catch our flight the next morning and was then informed the airport closes at night and only opens 5am the next day. WHAT?! Since when does airport closes at night? I'm ashamed to be an aviation student myself, not knowing that some airports do close at night eh... We were like omg shit how, so we decided nvm la #hobo all the way, we sit at the benches outside the airport okay. Tahan 6hours only nvm, got airport wifi to use not so bad LOL
But then it was pretty dark outside since all lights were off except some dim ones in the airport. There was this mysterious guy nearby moving near us so we were pretty scared as well, that we even went to google for Jeju emergency numbers hahah thanks Taohan for sending me the numbers beforehand haha I never thought I may need them :/
Then comes an ahjumma who asked what we were doing here cos she thought we were waiting for a cab but no cabs drive in anymore since there isn't supposed to be anyone at the airport. We explained our situation to her and she went into the airport to find out from the staff if it's a good idea for us to stay overnight outside like that. It turns out she's a staff working at the immigration office and she returned to tell us the dim lights at the airport would be switched off later on so it'd be practically pitch dark and the temperature will continue to drop further later on. Oh my gosh but how? We didn't want to spend money to travel out and risk missing our flight which is so early and we're unsure of where would be opened all night as well.
Then this ahjumma offered to send us to a cafe nearby for us to spend the night and we can cab back later on since her dongsaeng (brother) was coming to pick her up. A little dubious right where got so nice one, what if they kidnap us :O She also approached the mysterious guy near us who happens to a Cambodian student studying in Seoul uni and is waiting to pick his friend coming to Jeju the next morning. Phew haha so maybe he's not a baddie :b There was also a Korean girl nearby who missed her last bus home and was loitering around not knowing what to do. So this ahjumma brought all of us together and said she could pick all of us to the cafe. WHERE GOT SO NICE... The Korean girl was really skeptical so I told her it should be fine since we're all in this together lolol
Thank God for keeping us safe really, the ahjumma and her dongsaeng turned out to be ultra kind souls #jejupeopledamnniceX2 and brought us to Angel-in-us Coffee nearby. They even offered us to stay over at their place if we didn't mind but of course we didn't dare to... HAHAHA but they were really damn damn nice I swear and the ahjumma hugged all of us before leaving, it was such a touching moment as if we met our saviour :') Ahjumma and ahjussi, your household will be blessed :'D
Up till this moment, Liz and I were damn overwhelmed. I had to translate between Korean and English since most of them couldn't understand English and it's also when I realised my Korean is maybe better than I believe hahaha. It was also amazing how fate brought us 4 people with different backgrounds stranded together. The Cambodian guy was kind enough to buy coffee for us and even went out to 7-11 to buy mineral water for us?!?! We bought food afterwards since we were so paiseh to receive from him. Afterwards we chatted abit to know more about one another and again I'm surprised I can converse in deep convo with my limited.sg korean vocab HAHAHA the korean girl which we called unni was kind enough to use simple terms so that I could understand her :')
Here's the cafe we stayed over at. Managed to catch a wink since we were damn shag by then and I know it's a little dangerous but I knew I could trust them :')
So, unbelievable affinity brought us 4 stranded together, how amazing isnt it? Pardon the shag max face overnight HAHAHA
We finally managed to survive till 5+ and shared a cab to the airport while unni took a bus back home. The Cambodian guy rushed to pay for the cab even though I got my money ready really early. Ahhh why so kinddddd :') As we go different ways and y'all might never see this, I feel incredibly overwhelmed the entire trip, especially this eventful night to cross paths with you guys. Hope everything turn out well for all of you despite all the obstacles in life that you all are facing now, can't wait for fate to bring us back together again one day!
So Liz and I finally caught our flight and poof we're back in Seoul now safe and sound, gained some memorable travel experience we'll keep in our hearts for a lifetime. Much loves to Liz for being a great travel buddy I can't ask for more hehe can't wait to hang out with you in Seoul again my bitch :b I thoroughly enjoyed Jeju and truly experienced the kindness of mankind, realizing not to assume all strangers are baddies and there's humanity amidst the tainted society.
