He's not my type.

I've heard it around my friends a billion times. "I don't like him because he's not my type.", "She's a really great girl but she's really not the type I'm looking for." True enough, all of us may have a set of criteria to look for, like a checklist to go through before determining you should go out with a particular someone.

But in actual fact, what are the odds for couples to end up with partners of their 'types'? Most of the times, people often end up with someone even if they may not be of their type, as long as they connect and have the chemistry. And for those lucky couples that meet someone of their type, eventually after one gets to know each other better, they may probably realise that their partner might be different from the type they envisioned them to be. But change is a constant, people change and adapt their types for the people they love. That's how I believe relationships sustain in the long run.

Besides, charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, look beyond and you'll see so much more !

What I'm trying to say is, love is a choice. You may not be able to choose who you can fall in love with (it's impossible to feel the sparks with every soul) but you certainly can choose if you want to fall in love with a certain someone. The person may not be your type (e.g. too extroverted to your liking etc), but if you feel for this person, give it a shot! Who knows in the long run, you may realise that this person is just the one you've been looking for :) Life is just a journey of self-discovery after all isn't it?
