#shiokudasai DAY 3 OF 4 / Asakusa x Akihabara x Roppongi

It's Day 3 of Tokyo and we're finally travelling in 4s - Wen Min, Charissa, Sherri and myself as #shiokudasai (which literally translates to shiok please, a variation of our korean hashtag #shiokseumnida heheh)

Today's itinerary first starts with Asakusa, mainly the Sensoji Temple and the stretch of shops selling pretty souvenirs that leads to the temple. We're blessed with great weather (~24deg, about 10deg higher than Korea woohoo) and the place was really pretty!

There were many shops selling typical tourist souvenirs and also super yummy Japanese snacks. We stopped by to try this soft serve ice cream in Sweet Potato x Matcha flavours. Patrons are not allowed to leave the shop until they finish the ice cream since Japanese are very concerned about the cleanliness of their streets and they don't want you to drip all over and dirty their place.

After walking past the street stalls, we see the Sensoji Temple in sight! It was really crowded being a Saturday but the view was amazingggg.

It's too difficult to get a picture with so many people walking around hahaha just a quick shot

And there we meet the legendary Japanese breed, SHIBA(!) Inu hehehe. Shiba actually means the F word in Korea :b

We walked out further (6-8min walk from Sensoji Temple) to find the lunch place for the day proposed by sasa.
Namiki Yabu Soba
2-11-9 Kaminarimon, Taito 111-0034
Operating hours: 11:30 am – 7:30 pm

Try to go early if you want, we went right on time when they just opened and saved the need to queue. When we're done, we saw a long queue snaking outside the store.

They're best known for their soba (duh) but there are various variations and if you're not a fan of cold soba, you may wanna try the hot soupy ones which wm and sherri really fancied since they prefered hot food. I personally really loved their basic one, simply the soba and the broth is enough to make me crave for moreeeeeee! We ordered one with the tempera which was slightly overpriced at 1800Y (S$25) but it's worth every single cent. It's so crispy yet soft and not oily at all, not sure how I can explain the the awesomeness. The soba was chewy and just soooo good.

We were later given a teapot so we poured out into our teacups and drank. We were wondering what flavour was it and sasa said it tasted like barley. The waitress came to us afterwards and poured the 'tea' from the teapot into our soba sauce. LOLOL so it's actually a broth to lighten the consistency of the sauce into a soup. #countrybumpkinsx4

Next stop, Akihabara, a haven for manga/anime fanatics and a place for electronics shopping! Sasa is a secret hardcore anime fan so she really wanna visit the place :b We saw lots of guys on the streets and secretly judged them as Otakus (people obssessed with anime haha).

We went into some buildings with lotsa of manga and there were storeys segmented for different genders. There was this level for adult content, porn anime(?!), and we saw tons of guys going in and out of that storey freely. This would almost never happen in the conservative society of Singapore ahhaha. We visited the storey for female shoppers and found comic books with yaoi (homoerotic romantic manga) and it's weirdly interesting lolol

We headed to Roppongi to try apparently one of the best eclairs as recommended by Ladyironchef but we don't really fancy it, it's good but not THAT good and way overpriced.

Here's our hazelnut praline cake that taste almost exactly like Coco Exotic from Four Leaves. It's nice but I'm not willing to pay S$10 when I can get coco exotic for a fraction of the price. Eclair was mediocre and I can happily settle with one from Sophie bakery in Singapore.

We decided to head back to Harajuku in the evening as we wanted to buy some beanies but didn't do so the day before, only to realised today is kinda the last day of shopping since we're going to Disney the next day.

Jinxuan, my secondary school friend happens to be in Tokyo for a business trip and he joined us for dinner! It's great to see a familiar face after few months of being away from home :')

We had dinner at some best ramen in Tokyo supposedly - Ichiran Ramen, a chain store available throughout Japan but it's not thatttt awesome. Gotta love the layout of the shop though, it's in cubicles and you can open the cubicle if you wish to :b

I would say ramen in Japan is pretty affordable, S$10 for this, not the best but I'm happy with it nonetheless.

Most of the shops were closed at night so we managed to find a cafe/bar after a longgg time of walking and chilled over some coffee and sweets before going home :)
