15 March, TP releases exam results, and for us final year students, it's really important since it sort of 'officially' marks the end of our poly life and we're finally promoted to the 'Graduate' status on our student portal. Well, it's trivial but YES I COMPLETED COURSE IN DIPLOMA IN AVIATION MANAGEMENT &SERVICES! ^.^
3 years, YES 3 YEARS. Say long not long, say short, it's not short at all. Over the span of 3 years, I've repeated questioned myself if it was really a good decision for me to choose poly over JC. Since secondary school, I've always been very clear about what I wanted - poly. When I first entered, I have NO intentions of pursuing further studies in university. My mindset was simple, get a good diploma, find a job and work hard for a good career progression. I believed that with time and effort, it's in no time that I can be on par with fresh graduates with degrees.
If you were wondering why I didn't consider JC, firstly it's difficult to get a good job if I stop just at A lvls and I was quite sure I'd fare badly since sciences and humans are NOT my cup of tea. Gauging from how I fare during sec school, it's not something I wanna go through again. But still, 1 year ahead of poly was still really attractive.
But when I studied in poly, especially in such a competitive course of AMS, my mindset changed completely. It's not that Diploma alone is not good, but why not pursue further if I can? Even though I still believe my initial choice of path is still possible, but alternatively securing myself with a degree may also provide me with better prospectives? For that, I'll only know till then but after much consideration, I know what I want - I'll give myself a chance.
So moving on, I applied for NUS & NTU, in Business Admin and Business respectively as my first choice. Despite my strong passion for aviation industry, I know I can't pursue it further unless I study abroad, which isn't under one of my options due to many reasons, namely the expenses and the distance. So I planned to study in biz so that I can relate to aviation management and hopefully get a job in the aviation industry with both business and aviation expertise :D I'm still not giving up aviation!
Even though my gpa is considered relatively decent, I was still really worried about the acceptance since it's known to be so difficult to secure a course. Earlier this morning, I was worried sick about the tp results I mentioned earlier because the cumulative is gonna be the FINAL and there's nth I'll be able to do to improve it anymore. Like I said, I was worried, I wanted it to be the best (Well, who doesnt :P). Paranoid parrot is le me. Nervous like dk what, but work was too busy to keep me brooding about it though haha. I received results later than most people grrrrrr. All distinctions except a B+ for BCM which I see it coming anyway. So yup, no gpa 4 this sem but thankfully MP results were good and cgpa increased a little!
Anyway when I finally received the TP sms, someone rang my office number and I had a hard time answering the call and read my results without screaming at the same time lolol.
&in the afternoon, I went to check the nus application portal cos I heard that Ben got offered a course already. I wasn't expecting the status to change since the last time I check (2days ago I think), it's still processing. And when I was working using another monitor (my laptop is now attached to a bigass monitor so I have 2 working split screens to multi-task, DAMN COOL ONE or is i suaku hahaha), corner of my eyes noticed something different about the page. WHY GOT PARAGRAPH ONE. Normally its just written as application processing but this time, it's accompanied with additional sentences.
Took a closer look and nearly hyperventilatedddddddddddddddddddddd.
I'm so blessed. First choice of NUS, BBA! Again I wanna reiterate, I'm not showing off here! I'm really glad and grateful that I'm offered a place. I'll be going for NTU interview next week too, hope I'll do well and yup, still can't decide whether ntu or nus would be more suitable for me. I'm really attracted by NTU's 3 years direct honours though!
For people that wanna know more about it like wanna know my gpa for reference to your acceptance to uni since first batch and the rest might be different, feel free to pm me! I'll be glad to be of help and if you're shy, drop me a question on formspring?
Good luck to all awaiting results and hope you get into your desired course too! :)
